CD Weld Stud with Large Flange for Electrical Contact (IKING CFK Stud)

* Capacitor Discharge Studs are designed to be welded to thin gauge sheet material using tip ignition according to the capacitors discharge welding process.
* Standard material for IKING CFK CD Studs are: Low Carbon Copper Plated Steel, Stainless Steel.
* The stud size is designed according to EN ISO13918 with special large flange.
* Studs made of steel 4.8 are protected against corrosion by copper coating. (Thickness : 3 to 5 µm)
* CFK Studs are used to make electrical contact in automotive and industrial applications.
* CFK Studs are welded using the Capacitors Discharge process, which allows the studs to be welded to thin base material with good strength.

 

* Special large flange on CFK studs could guarantee the good appearance on the back of sheet from over burnt.

Technical Data:

The large flange permits high torque to be loaded and transmitted. Transverse grooves (paint clearing grooves) in the thread allow excess paint to run off during painting.

CD Stud Welding
1.The capacitor battery will be charged according to chosen charging voltage.
2. The stud (with ignition tip) is placed onto the work piece and pressed by a spring in the welding gun onto the work piece (contact). The current circuit is closed.
3. After triggering the welding process, the rapidly increasing current evaporates the ignition tip and ignites the arc.
4. Stud and work piece are melted.
5.The stud is moved forward to the plate.
6. The arc is cut as soon as the stud touches the work piece
7. The molten zones are joining and solidifying.
8. Welding time is ≤ 3 msec.
9. Recommended plate thickness should be 1/10 d, but not less than 0.5 mm.
